Storyboard Text

  • This is not the life I wanted
  • After another night of being shamed by her husband about her motherhood, Edna sits outside and cries.
  • I DID IT I'M SWIMMING
  • Edna learns how to swim beside Robert. She feels more alive than ever.
  • Nothing here belongs to me. I need my own things, I need my independence.
  • After Leonce and the kids leave town, Edna realizes she can never be happy in Leonce's big, beautiful house.
  • It's mine!
  • Edna purchases a house with money she makes by selling her art. It is a small humble home that makes her happy.
  • After reconnecting with Robert, Edna gets insulted when she finds out he sees her as a possession, not an individual.
  • Excuse me! I am nobody's property, he can't just "hand me over"!
  • If only Leonce were to hand you over to me, we could be happy.
  • I can't go back now
  • Do I want to go back?
  • I think life would be so much easier if I only...
  • Edna goes back to Grand Isle during off season. She swims alone and goes too far to come back.
