I was really really scared because everything was flying around and I thought that I would blow away as well. But my mum and dad calmed me down and we drove down here where we would be safe.
Some New Orleans citizens were unable to take their most treasured belongings with them, being forced to evacuate as fast as possible or risk serious injury or worse. Many people are stuck here without family, friends or any possessions despite what they had on them when they died.
This hurricane has been the most traumatic experience of my life. I have had to leave everything behind, all of my wallets, purses and jewellery is probably washed away now (starts to sob). On the bright side I brought my favourite pair of sunglasses, look at them (shows them off). Every night I say to myself, why me? Why did the hurricane just have to hit me? Why not the poor people, I mean, they don’t have anything to lose do they!
Say whatever you want or what we decide
Hurricanes are so cool. I like looked outside and everything was flying around like (acts like the car sales inflatables). I saw a tree and then a couch and then I was like I should probably get out of here now. It is a funny story actually cause I thought that the people on the news were joking when they said that there was going to be a hurricane so I didn’t do anything haha. It got a little bit scary but it was kind of fun as well cause it felt like I was flying.
Thanks again to these lucky survivors for telling us their stories and giving us a bit more insight into the hurricane.
