Game on, Helen. Game on.
When Helen was very young she was misdiagnosed. Her doctor said she has acute congestion of the stomach and brain, But she was really becoming blind and deaf. Kate was the one to find this out. Kate was screaming and in tears to find out her daughter would never hear or see again.
6 years passed and Helen was still blind and deaf. Helen was very animal like and unkempt. Kate and Aunt Ev thought that it would be best for Helen to get a teacher for her. Kate had Keller write to the Perkins institute. Annie Sullivan came to help Helen learn to speak and learn obedience.
After Annie arrived she wanted to start teaching Helen right away. Helen did not appreciate getting told what to do. Helen was used to get her own way. Annie was teaching Helen how to spell doll and Helen sacked her right across her face with her doll and knocked her tooth out!! After that Helen locked Annie in her room. Helen went running downstairs and out side. Keller had to get Annie out with a ladder. When Keller got Annie out they were all outside with Helen. Everyone except Helen and Annie went inside. Helen felt around she wanted to make sure that no one was outside watching her. Annie backed away out of Helen's reach. Helen spit out the key to Annie door!! Annie was shocked to see this. Annie knew that teaching Helen would be a hard task but she was ready to take it on.
Later, Annie and the Keller's were eating dinner. Annie realized that Helen was going around eating off other peoples plates and not her own. Which made it worse is that she was eating with her hands. Annie was not going to let Helen do that. When Helen went to eat Annie's food Annie smacked Helen's hand. Helen and Annie started fighting. Annie rushed all the Keller's out of the house and locked the doors so Annie could teach manners to Helen. Annie and Helen were not giving up smacking and punching each other. After hours of fighting Annie finally got Helen to Eat of her own plate, Use a spoon and fold her own napkin.
Annie realized that with the pity of her parents all of her hard work would go to waste,so Annie requested to go away and stay in the garden house alone and teach Helen. Keller and Kate said 2 weeks. Only 2 weeks. Annie took his opportunity to teach Helen. Annie's one goal was to get Helen to connect words with the object.
After the two weeks Annie and Helen returned to the Keller's house. Helen was testing her family and seeing what she could get away with. Helen was acting like she hasn't learned obedience. Annie was not going to tolerate that. So every time Helen would act up Annie made Helen refill the water pitcher. Annie went outside to the pump so Helen could refill the pitcher. Annie hadn't had Helen connect words with things yet so Annie was still trying. Annie put Helen's hand to the water and the miracle happen'd. Helen said WAH WAH . Helen finally connected the words to things and she learned just like the other children.
