Jacob and his family moved to Egypt to Canaan because there was a famine and Egypt had plentiful amounts of grain. As the population grew, the pharaoh grew its trust because they practiced MONOTHESIM. And ETHICAL behavior

Moses was a Israelite who grew up in the pharaohs palace where he was a prince of Egypt. God instead said for Moses to free his people go so he asked for permission to fulfill his COVENANT

Moses first askes the Pharoah to lead the Hebrews but he refuses. Second, terrible hardships, sicknesses and swarms of insects but he still refuses. And finally, Every boy Egyptian had to be dead.
The Pharoah of Egypt said to the Israelites to leave. Moses led the Israelites to the Sinai. And that became the liberation of Jacobs decedents from slavery in Egypt that is called Exodus.
The Exodus says that the Israelites stood at the foot of Mount Sinai while Moses meet with God at the top of the Mountain. The COMMANDMENTS told how the Israelites should behave to God.
One of the first cities they conquered was the high-walled city of Jericho, the Israelites also went to conquered several small kingdoms.
