Well son, the plants take in sunlight through their leaves! They make food through a photosynthesis! Sunlight is made into food through the calvin cycle !
They take in water, and sunlight, and produce Oxygen.
Dad, How do all these plants survive? Like what do they eat? Water? Sun? Chicken?
Well back in my day I majored in Photosynthesology. Basically there are some Chemical reactions that happen within the chloroplast
The first stage transforms light energy into chemical energy, stored to this point in molecules of ATP and NADPH.
Basically it takes CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) fixation and turns it into glucose (a sugar)
That's so cool.
So my dad told me about photosynthesis. It has two steps. !, is the calvin cycle ( Light- independent) and the light dependent . The light reaction takes place in the thylakoid .
So first of all- chlorophyll ( the green pigment in the leaves) absorbs sunlight ! The sunlight then gives energy to electrons and they are passed around the thylakoid
Photosynthesis is so cool. Protons are being absorbed, but after the electrons are moving around they are added to a mix to form NADPH!
So basically there rae electrons traveling through the thylakoid. Then those electrons get mixed to make NDAPH!( those are the photosystem 1 electrons) the photosystem 2 electrons are used to pass hydrogen into the thylakoid! next the hydrogen in the thylakoid is used to replenish photosystem 1s lost electrons.
I have decided to study photosyntheology like my dad! But to think of it i never got to the last steps of light reactions!
So basically to replenish photosystem 2s electrons the splitting of water occurs. then the oxygen and hydrogen are realease ( oxygen) then all the hydrodgen that builds uo are harvested by ATP synthes and then made into ATP. ATP and NADPH are used in the calvin cycle !
