Storyboard Text

  • Who Got What?
  • Why, Northern free states, don't like the compromise because we want to abolish slavery.
  • Because I'm from the south, I like the Compromise, so.... Too bad for you.
  • HA! HA! HA!
  • I believe that people shold be able to vote whether they want to be a free state or a slave state
  • Who Got What?
  • I believe that we shouldn't force the people to be in one side then the other too!!!
  • Who Got What?
  • What if slavery stays the same and never expands, ever again!
  • What if Missouri becomes a slave state and the balance between the North and the South brakes
  • Northern free states  opposed the Compromise because the Compromise was created to calm both sides by making it almost equal, although Northern free states wanted to completely abolish slavery in America. On the other hand Southern slave states supported the Compromise because they were guaranteed that no federal restrictions on slavery would be placed on Utah or New Mexico, and a FUGITIVE SLAVE LAW was passed,
  • Who Got What?
  • I feel like the Compromise is helping us expand slavery with the 36-30 line
  • Northern free states believed that federal authorities and Congress's power cold be used for individual people to decide to vote if they wanted to be a slave state, or a free state. On the other hand Southern slave states believed in the  compromise, but also believed in state's rights, and didn’t want to force people to do anything.
  • Who Got What?
  • You have more land, to expand your "non slavery believes" then we do!!!!
  • Free states feared that  If Missouri became a slave state, the tie would be broken. The South would control the Senate and would be one step closer to legalizing slavery in states newly admitted to the Union. On the other hand Slave states feared that slavery wold stay the same due to the compromise because they wanted to expand slavery.
  • Who Got What?
  • Northern Congressman VS Southern Congressman
  • Free states felt that to preserve the balance (Maine was a free state and shows that if they really wanted to get rid of slavery, they wouldn't have accepted the deal. On the other hand Slave states felt that the Compromise opened a door for the expansion of slavery with the 36-30 line.
  • Free states, in general, felt like the 36-30 line was bad because they wanted to abolish slavery, but they knew that they had more land then the Southern states. On the other hand the Slave states knew they were being played, although it was a great opportunity for expansion. They eventually realized that free states had more land.
  • Hey! listen its not my fault! :(
  • The two leading congressman involved in the in the debate that resulted in the compromise where Daniel Webster, and Henry Clay. Also the two leading Southern Congressman where Preston Brooks and John C. Calhound
