Siddartha’s father did not want him to know about the sufferings of the poor world, so he was kept inside royal grounds at all times.
When Siddartha goes outside the palace, he is shocked when he sees people and their many difficulties. He wanted to find a way to stop them.
Siddhartha traveled for a long time around India, trying to find out why suffering exists, and how people could be liberated from it.

Siddhartha, determined to find the root of suffering, began meditating under a fig tree hoping to find answers for his question - “Why does suffering exist?”
After 14 weeks of meditation under the tree, Siddhartha found enlightenment, a perfect state of peace. He also found the awnser to his question - suffering is caused by desire.
Siddhartha was getting old. Soon, he would die. His followers and himself spread Buddhism all around India and China. When Siddhartha was only days from dying p, then only his followers spread their religion. Even now, hundreds of years later, Buddhism is still around. It is the 4th largest religion in the world today.
