Doodle is born: when doodle was born everyone thought he was going to die. he was born in a Caul. A caul is a membrane that surrounds the head at birth. He was considered a miracle baby. The narrator did not like doodle.
Doodle becomes one of us: The narrator was peeking into the living room where he saw doodle sitting there. Then all of a sudden, doodle smiled right at him. The narrator was thrilled that he was smiling. This let him know that doodle was one of them. Doodle was all there.
Doodle Walks: one morning, the narrator brought doodle into the kitchen to show everyone something. He made them turn there backs. When he said they could look, doodle was walking across the room and he sat down. Mom and dad started crying and hugged doodle. The narrator started to like doodle.
Doodle starts to train and struggles: The narrator started to train doodle to run and swim. Doodle would sometimes collapse from exhaustion. The narrator would usually push doodle to far and he would start to become ill. After a while the narrator felt bad so he went easier on him. After a few more sessions of training, they finally stopped.
The Scarlet Ibis dies: One rainy morning, the family heard a croaking noise outside. There was a giant bird that looked like it was in pain sitting on a tree. A little while later, the Ibis fell to the ground and died. Dad went to get the bird book and they found out it was a Scarlet Ibis. Doodle then buried it gently in the yard. This fore shadows that Doodle may die.
Doodle dies: When Doodle and the Narrator started walking back home from Horse Head Landing the storm clouds were coming in. They started to run as it rained. Moments later, Doodle collapsed to the ground from exhaustion. The Narrator felt a streak of cruelty run through him and he ran away. when he came back, he saw doodle asleep. When he tried to wake him up, he started crying as he knew doodle had just died.
