  • Dr. Watson and Sherlock Holmes view the mysterious note left for Sir Henry Baskerville when he stops by Baker Street, accompanied by Dr. Mortimer. The note was delivered to the Northumberland Hotel, which shocks Sir Henry.
  • Welcome, Sir Henry! Welcome to Baskerville Hall!
  • You don't mind my driving straight home, Sir Henry?
  • After Sir Henry and Dr. Mortimer leave, Holmes and Watson follow at at a distance, only to discover that a cab is following the young heir. The cab passenger, who has a distinctive black beard, orders the cab driver to leave down Regent Street.
  • That is curious, for I did when I was half asleep fancy that I heard something of the sort.
  • Did you, for example, happen to hear someone, a woman I think, sobbing in the night?
  • Sir Henry finds his missing brown boot underneath a cabinet in his hotel room. It was not there previously when Sir Henry checked his hotel room top to bottom.
  • Dr. Watson, Dr. Mortimer, and Sir Henry are greeted upon their arrival at Baskerville Hall by the butler named Barrymore and his wife.
  • Sir Henry and Dr. Watson sit down for breakfast the morning after their arrival to Devonshire in order to discuss the previous night's events.
  • Sir Henry and Miss Stapleton are engaged in a conversation on the moor path. Miss Stapleton is nervous. The conversation is secretive, but Dr. Watson is on a hill about a quarter mile away watching. He realizes that Mr. Stapleton is watching as well.
