  • Act 3 Scene 1
  • "We talk here in the public haunt of men. Either withdraw unto some private place... Or else depart."
  • Act 3 Scene 2
  • "Hath Romeo slain himself? ... If he be slain, say 'Ay,' or if not, 'No'. Brief sounds determine my weal or woe. "
  • Act 3 Scene 3
  • "Here from Verona art thou banished...Thy fault our law calls death, but the kind prince, Taking thy part, hath rushed aside the law and turned that black word 'death' to 'banishment'"
  • In a duel between the men of the Montague families and the Capulets Mercutio is struck dead by Tybalt. When Tybalt returns Romeo kills him out of an act of revenge.
  • Act 3 Scene 4
  • While Juliet waits excited for her newlywed husband to arrive she gets the news that Romeo has killed Tybalt, and that Mercutio is dead. At first she thinks that Romeo is dead, but later learns the truth .
  • Act 3 Scene 5
  • Romeo seeks guidance from the Friar after being banished from Verona as a consequence of his actions. The Friar helps Romeo see the mercy of his punishment.
  • The lord and lady Capulet arrange the marriage of Juliet and Paris. But only with Paris's consent, and not Juliet's.
  • "O'Thursday be it, then. Go you to Juliet ere you go to bed. Prepare her; wife, against this wedding day."
  • Juliet and Romeo meet. Afterwards Juliet's mother finds her weeping about the situation with Romeo. Juliet leads her mother to believe that she is weeping over the death of Tybalt.
  • "We will have vengeance for it, fear thou not. Then weep no more... he shall soon keep Tybalt company."
