Brett Gerson was a known as a rich kid in a town in California. However, everything went terribly wrong when his father has to owe mounds of debts to customers he never payed. Many of their possessions started to be sold quickly.
Days went by, and Brett couldn't continue to let go of the fact they lost everything. He became bitter and never wanted to acknowledge his father ever again.
However, one day in Brett's life he learns a few wise lessons from Allie, his boss; a pool cleaner which he works for over the summer. The crazy part about it, was he use to clean Brett's pool and now Brett's cleaning other people's luxurious pools. Brett became really fond of Allie and told him to love his father and told Brett what he had to endure leaving her daughter at a young age with only a mother. Yet, being Brett, he didn't take to much consideration until something terrible happened to Allie.
A few days after Allie talked to Brett about the his father, Brett did his regular routine to show up at Allie's house so they could head off and clean more pools for the day. Brett didn't see Allie at the front porch step like he usually does in the mourning nor did he hear him in his house. Brett became concerned so went to the side of Allie's house and saw him through a window laying on the floor from a heart attack. Brett broke the window in order to receive the news directly from Allie.
Allie was sent off in an ambulance with Brett. One of the people trying to keep Allie alive, told Brett if he had any family. He told the man that he had a daughter still alive. She was given the news and she came soon as possible. The next day, Allie's daughter was the only one able to see Allie because of a hospital law. And a doctor later approached them a few hours after the daughter saw Allie and gave them the news that Allie had died in his sleep. Yet, Brett learned something very important that day from all the lessons he taught him.
The lesson he learned made him realize how valuable life is to a teen growing up. The one thing Allie's daughter couldn't let go of, was all the hatred she build-ed over her father. She was able to forgive him at the hospital when it was too late. That day, Brett rushed to the prison and forgave his own father for the hatred he started to build after the day his family lost everything. He let go of all the fantasies of getting his money back and moved on as 16 year old teenager. While he continues Allie's business which was left over to him. And did the many of the jobs when he had the time.
