Sam Houston came with a small army to go meet the Mexican army. They were going to fight for revenge on the Alamo. On April 19, Texians set up camp to train by San Jacinto river.
We will get our revenge .

The morning of April 21, both sides were ready to battle. The Texians had about 750 men and the Mexicans had over 1500. Houston had destroyed the Mexicans escape route. The battle was over within 18 minutes. 700 Mexicans were killed and 730 taken as prisoners. Texians died and 30 others including Houston were injured

The next day a Mexican soldier was caught over by the woods of Vinces Bayou. Texian soldiers took him to camp. Santa Anna was captured and brought to Houston who was wounded under a tree. Santa Anna agreed that his troops would withdraw to south of the Rio Grande. The Texians had one their Independence at San Jacinto.
We want to have Independence here because we won.
