A servant owed his king a large sum of money, and he had no hope of repaying him. The king was going to punish the servant cruelly, but he begged for mercy. The king was moved by the servant's despair, and told him the huge debt was cancelled and he was free to go.
Soon afterwards, the servant came across another servant that owed him a small amount of money, and demanded for the other servant to pay him. The servant couldn't, and begged for mercy, but the man showed none and had him thrown in jail.
When the king got word of what happened, he was very angry at the unmerciful servant. He said " When you begged for mercy, I showed you mercy, and yet you had none for a man who owed you far less than you owed me" The king had the servant put in jail and punished.
