  • Charlemagne: His Way of Educating and His Legacy
  • Charlemagne the new leader of the Franks was a ruthless man. He is the kind of ruler you want to be friends with. Charlemagne had 2 main goals. First, he wanted to unite all of Western Europe under himself. Second, he wanted to convert all Germanic people to be Christian. He accomplished this by war. The methods he used in war were quite brutal. When He fought against the Saxons, he was the most Brutal. In 782 they rebelled and 4500 Saxons were captured. In one day, Charlemagne beheaded them. Charlemagne eventually reached his goal of capturing most of Western Europe.
  • After his affair with the Saxons, On Christmas day in 800 Pope Leo III declared Charlemagne Holy Roman emperor. His power was blessed by the church. Charlemagne was actually annoyed by this, because he believed his power came from god. The church helped Charlemagne unifiy his empire. The Empire was split into Manors. He used counts, who were people, to help him watch over the empire.
  • Most Franks couldn't read or write, so Charlemagne began a school to help children train, so they can work in the palace or church. Subjects were taught grammar, logic, and Mathematics. To pay for the Scholars, Chalemagne used his money from the places he conquered. After his death, he gave the empire to his 3 grandsons and he divided the empire in 3. This weakened the empire and made it collapse. Charlemagne is known to be a smart and brutal leader who accomplished many things.
