CALL TO ADVENTURE Odysseus leave Ithaca to fight in the Trojan War. The war lasts 10 years. Odysseus helps end the war by creating a large wooden horse. After the war was over, Odysseus and his men sail home or Ithaca.
MENTORS/HELPERS (list any help and what they did) There were many mentors and helpers that were involved with Odysseus. One helper to Odysseus was Eumaeus. Eumaeus helped him receive his kingdom again. Athena was also a major helper to Odysseus. She helped him out tremendously when she turned him into a beggar to disguise himself. Tyresseus guided him to discover a faster way to return home. Although Zeus can be considered an enemy to Odysseus, he also helped him out in some ways. For example, Zeus told Calypso to free him from being held captive. .
TESTS/ENEMIES The first enemy for Odysseus' journey was the cyclops. The cyclops ate his men, making his voyage more difficult. Another enemy for Odysseus was Poseidon. Poseidon done several things to make his journey back home difficult. Zeus also was a major enemy of Odysseus. Zeus threw lighting, which caused several issues for the journey. The sirens and the lotus waters tested Odysseus' strength in several ways. For example, the lotus eaters even tried to offer his men lotus to force them remain on this island. Sirens tried to sing to Odysseus' men, which was also an issue in the story.
