  • Church
  • Darry
  • Randy
  • The Church allows PB to grow and find his true colors. PB feels safe in the church. In addition, the church is important to PB because it is a place where he can escape his rough, daily life, and where he can escape the fuzz.An important event that happened there was when the church caught on fire, and he and Johnny saved the kids; this big event made PB realize that he is a better person that he thought he was. Also, this makes him grow and learn to be more independent.
  • Darry's actions challenge PB to be tougher because he is really strict. They can also lead to PB making bad decisions. In addition, Darry can become very stressed and worried at times, which can lead him to be to hard on PB. An example of this is when PB comes home late, and Darry gets too mad and takes it too far. Darry and PB get into a horrible fight and Darry slaps him, which causes PB to run away into the country with Johnny, with no protection. This is a bad decision by Darry, which leads to an even worse decision by PB.
  • Randy and PB started off pretty bad. Randy is a Soc, and PB is a greaser. Their gangs got in a fight-- and Johnny ended up killing Bob, Randy's best friend, right in front of his eyes. In addition, ever since Johnny and PB turned heroes, Randy has softened--but then Johnny dies, and Randy comes to visit PB. They talk and share their very similar hardships, and PB learns to understand that even Socs have it pretty rough too. Now, PB and Randy can be "so-called" friends.
