  • The Great Deportation Part 1 British Perspective
  • What!!
  • This is our home we can't leave
  •  People of Acadia, Britain has taken over your land.  All Acadians  must leave within one  year.
  • I can't just leave all of  the hard work put into my farm
  • The oath of neutrality
  • We except the oath of neutrality
  • What should we do?
  • Im worried that we can't trust the Acadians to stay loyal to being neutral since they are French related
  • In 1713 Britain took control of Acadia, and told the Acadians that they had to leave within one year. Some Acadians left within the year, but most stayed because they didn't want to give up all the hard work that was put into their settlement and farms.
  • We do not except!
  • The Oath of Alligence
  • ?
  • Later in 1730, British introduced "the oath of neutrality" to the Acadians. The Acadians had excepted the oath. This oath meant that the Acadians need to stay neutral during any conflict between Britain and France.
  • In 1755, Britain felt that a war might occur soon between the France and the Britain.  Britain began to worry, because they didn't trust that the Acadians would not stay loyal to their oath of being neutral.
  • On July 1755, British introduced "the oath of allegiance" to the Acadians. This meant that the Acadians would have to fight with Britain against France if a war occurred. This oath would ensure that the Acadians would not fight for France.  But unfortunately  for Britain  the Acadians did not except this oath.
  • Since The Acadians did not except this oath Britain decided it was best to deport them. 10,000 Acadians were deported to either the thirteen colonies, France, and England.
