Storyboard Text

• Hey, Mark Polynomials are pretty simple, but Factoring gets challenging! I will teach you!
• Hey Maggie, what are Polynomials and Factoring?
• So, there are many different types of Polynomials. Here are some...... 1) Monomials 2) Binomials 3) Trinomials
• Oh okay, well what do these Polynomials look like?
• Monomials= 3x2 Binomials= 2x+7 Trinomials= 5x-2y+4z
• EXCELLENT!
• OH! I am starting to get it!
• Thank you very much!
• Finally, we are onto Factoring Trinomials. Here is an example.... X2 + 5x + 6 =(X+2) (X+3)
• Now, how did you get that answer?
• So, you have to find the multiples of 6 that equals 5. So 3 x 2=6 and 3+2=5. Now, your problem should be X2+2x+3x+6. Now, you have to do grouping to complete this problem. The answer is (X+2) (X+3)
• Oh, okay! Thanks Maggie for all you help.
• Here is an example of a DOTS problem. X2-81 = (X-9) (X+9)
• Now, how did you get (X-9) and (X+9)?
