  • Ho Chi Minh was a Communist revolutionary Vietnamese leader.

  • The Viet Cong was the army lead by Ho Chi Minh which fought for Communism in Vietnam.
  • Communism must not be allowed to spread. As a result of the Truman doctrine, the US will get involved. We will preserve the democracy and rights of the people!

  • The war ended April 30, 1975. The North Vietnamese had won and the country would now become Communist. On our side of the war, an estimated 58,000 American lives were taken and about 200,000 from the South Vietnamese army  also died.
  • The Vietnam War is an important part of our history course because it was a military conflict in the midst of the Cold War. Having this "hot" war about ideologies increased tensions between the US and the USSR.
