Storyboard Text

  • Scene 2
  • Interviewer: How would you feel if you were a policewoman but you weren’t allowed to have a boyfriend?
  • I wouldn't care. Boys are gross!
  • Scene 3
  • Seriously?!
  • Interviewer: Now you have your lovely handbag here which I’m sure is used to carry personal items, however did you know that women were required to carry around a handbag as apart of a uniform as opposed to any form of weapon?
  • Oh wow, i definitely didn't know that!
  • Scene 3
  • Oooh maybe sometime in the 70’s?
  • Interviewer: Do you know when it was that the handbags were replaced with firearms?
  • No idea!
  • Scene 4
  • Oh wow, good question. I just couldn’t imagine being able to protect Victorian citizens as well as myself without either of those factors.
  • Scene 5
  • That’s insane, no way would I be able to run in heels and a skirt, it’s already a struggle enough as it is *laughs*
  • Final shot
  • To find out more facts about the past 100 years of women in policing and celebrate the milestone visit the agents of change exhibition at the police museum today,  policemuseum.com.au
  • Interviewer: How would you feel fulfilling your duties nowadays without my form of training or not being armed? Because up until the 1970’s policewomen were still receiving little to no self-defence instruction.
  • Interviewer: Another surprise to you may be that if you were a policewoman anytime before the 1980’s your uniform would consist of a three-quarter skirt, heels and a black handbag. How do you think you would be able to perform?
