  • BASE: the lowest part of an edge of something.
  • Exponent: a quantity given to a number that is to be raised.
  • if c is a number and f(x) is a differentiable function, then cf(x) is also differentiable, and its derivative is (cf)′(x) = cf′(x)
  • In calculus, the quotient rule is a method of finding the derivative of a function that is the ratio of two differentiable functions.
  • ower Rule (Powers to Powers): (am)n = amn, this says that to raise a power to a poweryou need to multiply the exponents
  • this says that to divide two exponents with the same base, you keep the base and subtract the powers
  • When you have a number or variable raised to a power, the number (or variable) is called the base, while the superscript number is called theexponent, or power.
  • this says that negative exponentsin the numerator get moved to the denominator and become positive exponents
  • A rational     exponent   represents   both an integer   exponent and an nth root
