The title whenever you first read it tells you to not go gently into the night which seems to mean something that may be revealed in the poem.
Do not go gentle into death. Wise men know that death is right in the end but they still do not accept it. Good men do not want to die because they feel they have not done enough in their life. Wild men who enjoyed aging realize in the end they do not want death. Grave men fight against death and are happy while they do it. And my father I pray will fight against death as much as them all.
Connotative words- Night, Rage, Grieved, Curse, Bless, Bright. The tone of this poem is sad and angry at the inevitable death of every person.
The shifts in the story are after the first stanza and before the last stanza. The first stanza is addressing humanity as a whole and it then switches to addressing specific types of people. From that point it transitions to to addressing their father directly.
Now I know that the title actually is a phrase that tells all people to not gently accept death and to fight against the end of your life for as long as you can.
The theme of this story is fighting against death and never dying willingly. It gives examples that all types of people learn in the end that they do not want death and to always fight it.
