Storyboard Text

  • Opening shot
  • Wide Shot of family
  • Goodnight kids!
  • Many close ups
  • "We have a kidnapping. Hurry please!" "Can you tell me what going on?" "We have a, there's a note and our daughters gone!"
  • When this appears at the start of the trailer, the audience is immediately on edge. When people know that movies or shows they watch are true stories, they are often more gravitated to watch to see what can happen in real life. By this, viewers will be dragged into the trailer - automatically attracting attention.
  • Black screen with quoted heard
  • As seen here, the Ramsey family appears happy after coming back from a Christmas party. A long shot shows the mother saying goodnight to the two kids. Nothing seems out of the ordinary here. The audience won't suspect anything odd here. This shows again that the family is very normal.
  • Long shot that zooms to boys face
  • A series of five close up, flashing shots will show a terrified Jon-Benet. She will be screaming and crying. This tells viewers that something is very wrong, which is the beginning of the fast paced thrilling mood the rest of the trailer conveys.
  • Extra Wide - Mid shot of parents
  • A black screen will be seen and the only thing heard will be the rushed and worried voice of Patsy Ramsey. It is clear to viewers that something horrible has happened. This scene is going to thrill the audience.
  • The black & white filter be used from now on, creating tension for the audience. Jon-Benet's is brother sitting on the couch, listening to the TV saying that a girl's body has been found. His unaffected behaviour makes viewers jump to conclusions about how strange he is reacting to his sister's murder.
  • This extra wide shot shows the parents talking to the media outside their house. Viewers will notice that they appear very strong here - not similar to most parents dealing with the death of their child. With this, the parents will be analysed and thought of as possible suspects.
