I can only think about what THEY allow me to think about.  I cannot have any independent thoughts of my own.
OUCH!  Every time I have an independent thought, I get zapped with painfully loud noises.
Because I'm beautiful, I have to wear a mask so I am not better than anyone else.  Because I dance so well, I have to wear weights to not let me dance.
the news station can't get Harrison's picture on the TV correctly.
- I am a greater ruler than anyman who ever lived! Now watch me become what I can become!"
In his story "Harrison Bergeron," Kurt Vonnegut makes the point that sometimes government make ridiculous rules in order to control people.  They don’t want people becoming better humans, they don’t want competition which can fuel change.  He shows this through the ballerinas having to wear masks to hide their beauty and wearing weights to not allow them to dance well.   They don’t want people thinking independent thoughts so that they may want to change who is in control.  He shows this through Harrison’s father being shocked with loud noises to his ears whenever he has an independent thought.
