  • Colonial Government (Traditions)
  • Most colonies only accepted the religion of their founders, and banned all other religions.
  • Colonial Religion (New Society)
  • Despite the Native Americans' best efforts, they slowly lost land, and even after the French and Indian War, where the natives who allied with the British gained some land, the invasion did not stop.
  • Natives & Colonists (New Society)
  • All the colonies had a governor to enforce royal authority. They had almost total authority.
  • Colonial Government (New Society)
  • Some colonies, such as Pennsylvania and Rhode Island allowed all religions, or at least all branches of Christianity.
  • In some cases, the colonists signed treaties with the Native Americans, and lived peacefully with them for a time. A common example of this is the First Thanksgiving, but the peace never lasted.
  • The colonies also had assemblies made of land-owning men. They controlled the governor's salary, and used that to get the wish of the colony.
