A group of friends come up to me at school and asks me if I want to go to the river with them on the weekend.
We arrive at the river and start to unpack. and get ready for a great day. It looks like we're going to have alot of fun.
I noticed that there is alot of alchohol and not much else so I move away from the group and I am not sure what to do because everyone is just drinking. There is no food to eat and people are starting to go swimming.
Everyone looks like they are having a good time in the water. A couple of my friends come over and ask me why I am not drinking with them. I tell them that I dont want to but they tell me everyone else is and I will look stupid if I dont join in.
come on what are you scared of?
Come on its only one drink!
What should I do?
I was worried about my friends because I knew that if you drink alcohol without eating food you can become intoxicated. And if you go swimming while drinking, alot of things can go wrong like taking risks especially near water.
As I was deciding whether I should give in to my friend's pressure to drink because I didnt want to feel silly and be left out, one of my friends passed out and fell into the river. Luckily because I had decided not to drink I was able to jump in and pull him out. It was a good lesson for all of us about what can happen with alcohol in dangerous situations. There were no adults around, alot of alochol, no food to eat and swimming.
