This is the Rhetorical Triangle where Ethos, Logos, and Pathos come together to appeal to the overall message and idea.
Overall, my Rhetorical Analysis was good but not great. There is definitely room for revision and a better understanding of the rhetorical triangle. I learned that ethos is the ethical appeal that gives the author credibility, and logos is the logical appeal that uses statistic or facts to support the main idea, and I learned that pathos is the emotional appeal that impacts the audience's feeling toward the message. But, from the author's perspective I do not really understand how writing about the authors thoughts can make a strong analysis.
Hello, My name is Jakob Demers, and I am your TA that will guide you towards Understanding Arguments
Rhetoric and Writing
I did not know what to expect when Jakob started to teach. He is very quiet so I feel like since he is quiet the entire class would not respond to him well. We understood that we had to create an essay that showed different perspectives of the same idea but it took a long time to get to this conclusion. I research that and argumentative essay should show both sides then narrow a focus toward what the writer believes is the correct side.
Overall, when it came to Understanding Arguments, I was surprised by how easy it was to support the authors argument and also find a counter argument that went against the main authors ideas. I was able to find supporting claims by reading different articles that had the same opinion as the starter article. I also read opposing viewpoints that I used to make my argument stronger when I choose the other side.
