  • I remember, the beautiful sea.
  • King Pelias and his wife Thetis were living fine, but all of their sons were dying in infancy. King Pelias was scared that he wouldn't have a son to take his spot after he dies.
  • What are you doing?
  • What are you doing your going to ruin the process.
  • Thetis was secretly longing for the sea as she had her seventh son. King Pelias was happy that he had a another son.
  • The sea, at last.
  • To make sure that Achilles doesn't die like his other brothers Thetis took him down to the underworld and dipped him into the River of Styx. All of Achilles body was dipped into the river except for his achilles heel.
  • Can you please take my son and raise him right I'm to depressed to do it?
  • Sure.
  • To finish the process of making Achilles immortal Thetis had to throw him into the fire. King Pelias saw this act and quickly fetched his son out of fire thinking Thetis was crazy. Thetis was so disappointed that she left in stress and jumped into the sea.

  • King Pelias was too sad to over the absence of his wife Thetis that he decided he couldn't take care of his child anymore so he went up to mount Pelion to ask a centaur named Chiron who was known for raising boys into strong men to take his son Achilles. Chiron agreed and that's was the end of section 5 of the Iliad.
