Anne learns of the allied invasion of Normandy at 8:00 in the morning because of an English news report on the radio. She is ecstatic, because she believes that the allies will rescue her, and her family from the Germans. She states "We have been oppressed by those terrible Germans for so long, They have had their knives at our throats, that thought of friends and delivery fills us with confidence." this shows that Anne can't wait for the coming deliverance from the Germans.
The allied forces capture the beaches of Normandy, while dropping British paratroopers over the French coast. At this point, Anne wonders if this could be real when she states "Would the long-awaited liberation that has been talked of so much, but which seems too wonderful, too much like a fairy tale, ever come true? This shows that for Anne it has been to long since she has had freedom, that when freedom is around the corner she almost doesn't believe it.
Anne Writes in her journal wondering if the long waited Freedom that she desires is Really going to happen. She wants to believe that she would be saved but she doesn't know that it's really going to happen. this is due to her being in isolation for so long.
