  • After the revolution America fell into economic depression
  • Shays Rebellion- 1786 By: Holly E. 11/5/18 2nd 
  • This effected many farmers and caused them to have no way of repaying dept.
  • I don't know what to tell you sir, as you can plainly see its hard to get by! Especially with all these Taxes!
  • This was an even worse issue in the Massachusetts due to they raised Taxes , and if a farmer couldn't pay they were threatened to take land or sent to jail
  • AHHHH! RUN!
  • In 1786, Daniel Shays, a former Patriot soldier, organized a rebellion with a large mass of participants.They gathered near a courthouse and prevented the state from taking farms from farmers who could not pay their taxes.

  • The government of Massachusetts sent the militia to drive the farmers away and to send them back to their farms.

  • Many Americans saw Shays' Rebellion as a sign that the Articles of Confederation did not work as an effective constitution for the United States of American.
