In this election there were two candidates that tied electoral votes. These candidates were John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. The fourth representative Henry Clay who was the Speaker of the House did not make it into the next round of voting. He started to team up with JQ Adams.
The Nullification Crisis of 1828-1833
When Andrew Jackson won the presidency of 1828 he was known as the people's president. After he was elected he hosted a giant party at the White House where many people became intoxicated. The White House was trashed in the process. When he was elected there was a shift in the political participation. the effect of this made sure that other men were able to run in political parties not just the wealthy ones.
Indian Removal Act & The Trail of Tears
The spoils system was something that allowed the president to choose his employees. The president would just choose friends or family members to be elected for a position. Even if they had no political experience. The people that were in his cabinet were given the name the Kitchen Cabinet. Their meetings tended to be very informal
The Bank War
This was a argument that happened between the United States government and South Carolina. South Carolina did not like the new tariffs being placed of British goods. This was solved when the south threatened to succed from the US. The federal government
The Indian Removal Act moved all of the Native American Tribes to a different part of land which is now present day Oklahoma. The only tribe that refused to move were the Cherokees. They were known to stand their ground and not give up. The Trail of Tears was a trail that the Cherokees took when they were forced to move west towards Oklahoma.
The Bank War is a political battle fought by Jackson. He did not like the idea of a National Bank and thought it was unconstitutional. The reproductions of this resulted a year later when Jackson stepped down from office and the US suffered a big economic downturn.
