  • Why does English language needs phrases and clauses?
  • Because they make up every single sentence. For example subject, predicate, and other parts 
  •   Semicolons are for combining two independent sentences. You can use a colon to connect two sentences when the second sentence summarizes, sharpens, or explains the first
  • Why does English language need semicolons and colons?
  • Why are dependent clauses 'dependent' on independent clauses?
  • Without independent clause it would be an incomplete sentence
