Storyboard Text

  • The Proclamation of 1763
  • You can not go past this point! 
  • The Stamp Act and its Repeal of 1766
  • No more money of your own. From now on you will be receiving a paper from the British government.
  • The Townshend Act of 1767
  • Everything you shall buy will be taxed.
  • The proclamation of 1763 was set so that the settlers would not be able to go past the Mountains, but the Americans could. Settlers were furious with this proclamation but still decided to go past the boundary.
  • The Boston Massacre of 1770
  • Colonist had to buy paper with a British stamp on it that marked they payed. When they had the British stamp it meant that they had payed their taxes. Colonist got angry because of the taxes they had to pay.
  • The Tea Act and Boston Tea Party of 1773
  • British parliament had put up a law that taxed goods that were brought to the colony. The colonists were angry about it and did not like this law. The British sent troops to make sure they were following the law. Although what they did not know was that they were close to starting the American Revolutionary war.
  • The Intolerable Acts of 1774
  • On March 5, 1770, British soldiers fired at a group of colonist killing 5 men. There was an argument between colonist and British Private Hugh White. The argument then became big and more colonist began to harass White.
  • In 1773 the British government boarded 3 trade ships on the Boston Harbor. The colonist dressed up as American Indian. They threw 342 chests of tea into the water in a act of retaliation.
  • In 1774 colonist had to provide supplies, shelter and food for British troops in America. They weren't angry because they had to provide shelter, but the colonist got angry because they had to give them their supplies.
