The After leaving office, in January 1969, Lyndon B. Johnson retired to his ranch in Stonewall, Texas. With the help of speechwriter Harry J. Middleson, he drafted hisfirst book, "The Choices We Make". They also wrote other memiors together.
Lyndon B. Johnson died in his home at Stonewall, Texas on January 22, 1973. Cause of death was from a massive heart attack. He called the Secret Service agents on duty at his ranch, but died before the arrived. He was buried in his family's cemetery in Stonewall.
