  • Improve the economy!
  • In 1794, US is in debt after the Revolution. So Alexander Hamilton wrote his Financial Plan on George Washington's request to improve the economy. While Hamilton was writing out his Financial Plan, he imposed a new excise tax on Whiskey. This made farmers in western Pennsylvania, who made their own Whiskey from grain, refused to pay the new tax, started rioting, and threatened the tax collectors. Finally, when Washington got the message of what was happening, he himself went and was going to fight the farmers, because the rioting went out of hand, but the farmers fled before any fighting broke out.
