  • Hi i'm the victim and i always wear all wear an Eisenhower jackets, old jeans + no tie.
  • We are the observers, who are always 2 woman.
  • I'm the Model aged 24-29, always white and wear informal clothes, but not dressed the same.
  • I pretent to be either ill or drunk and see if someone will come and help me.
  • we are the 4 victims , 3 white and 1 black and we either have a black cane or a bottle in a plastic bag.
  • Series of emergencies were staged 103 times on New York 8th avenue Independent subway . A+D trains as they ad 7 1/2 mins without stopping. It took part on weekdays from 11am to 3pm from 15th April 1968 to 26 June 1968. 4 teams of students, victims ( all wearing Eisenhower jackets, old jeans + no tie. Model aged 24-29, always white, wearing informal clothes, but notdressed the same.
  • My job is to help the victim 70 seconds or 150 seconds after he falls down, if i get the chance to.
  • Victims would collapse 70 seconds into the trip. The victim would remain lying on the floor , looking up at the ceiling. This was staged 103 times with 6-8 trails a day . Students would change trains to be able to carry out the experiment.
  • we have a few jobs to do as observers: Noted race,sex and location of every passenger in the critical area and passengers in the adjacent area + length of time taken before help from the first person. + the total of people in the carriage + total that helped.
  • All 4 victims were male , 3 white 1 black. 38 trails were drunk victims and 65 trails were ill. They alternated between drunk and ill. Victims didn't like playing the drunk , hence the in balance in trails.

  • Models were always white aged 24-29 who wore informal clothes, not dressed the same. 4 different approaches: 1: critical area (early- 70 seconds after ) 2:Critical Area (Late 150 seconds after) 3:Adjacent area (Early 70 seconds After ) 4: Adjacent Area (Late 150 seconds) When model assisted: He helped and stayed with him for the rest of the trail.
  • In the trial two were the observers (all female) in the adjacent area. They recorded comments from passenger. They also had 2 different roles. 1:Noted race,sex and location of every passenger in the critical area + the total of people in the carriage + total that helped. 2:Race,sex and passengers in the adjacent area + length of time taken before help from the first person.
