And that plus one is ‘being quiet’. Sometime silence is need in a conversation to give time to a speaker to ponder more about the issue. Many people feel awkward when they’re in the middle of silence. We should learn to be more comfortable to be quiet some times and be patient enough to not interrupt a speaker while thinking.
And make sure that a speaker is quiet because he/ she is thinking about something, not that he/ she doesn’t know what to say next. You also can show empathy to express your understanding. This will help a speaker feel more connected and trust you.
Ah..this is so extra. I have never listened to other people in that waybefore. I just listened to what they said and talk back how do I feel, not howthey feel. Umm, so interesting. Just a little difference can change how peoplefeel a lot.
