Storyboard Text

  • Wow Brian. Why are you so short? You are sixteen
  • Yeah Honey. You are short. I will take you to the doctor
  • I don't know why I'm so short! Why don't you take me to the doctor?!
  • Honey, I think I have diabetes . My pancreas is having trouble producing insulin
  • What?! You need to go to the doctor NOW!!!
  • Wow. I feel bad for you guys, but this is interesting. Both of your problems are connected!
  • Good Morning. What's wrong?
  • I think I have a problem. I'm too short for a sixteen year old
  • And I think I have diabetes. My pancreas is not producing insulin
  • This is how their problems are related: Brian isn't able to grow because his pituitary gland (endocrine system) is not producing a sufficient amount of hGh (human growth hormone). This is related to the nervous system because the hypothalamus (nervous system), controls the pituitary gland. As for Sherri, she has diabetes because her pancreas (endocrine system) is not able to release insulin. This relates to the nervous system because stimulation of the splanchnic nerve decreases insulin production. Both situations involve the endocrine and nervous systems
  • We're more related than we think
  • You're right! Let's work together to help Brian and Sherri feel better!
  • 5 days later
  • I feel a lot better!
  • Thank you for working together Endocrine and Nervous Systems!
  • Me too Mom! And I'm growing!
  • The End
