Rain started pouring and the boys began to pull themselves together getting rid of their tears and the officer came back to them.
"I hope you are all okay now," the officer asked, concerned. The boys nodded except Ralph, who still felt pretty upset. "My name is officer Roger," officer Roger introduced. The boys all poured out their names to officer Roger while Ralph, who was at the back of the group, sat down and stared sadly at the sea remembering Piggy and Simon's death and not wanting to look up at the others.
"Hey! Do you mind?"
"We're going home!"
Officer Roger saw him and went over to him. "Are you okay? Why are you all alone," officer Roger asked. Ralph didn't answer. "Is anything bothering you?" officer Roger asked. Ralph didn't answer again. "Why don't I take you and the others home on my friend's ship, would you like that?" officer Roger asked. Ralph nodded, he would like anything to get away from this island.
Officer Roger, Ralph and the others all went to the ship and saw a man on top of the ship waving at them and steering the wheel to move over to them.
"All aboard!" the man cried when he reached the shore. The boys (except Ralph) all climbed up the ship running around frantically like the savages they are and disturbed everyone else on the ship. "We're going home, we're going home, we can't cry, shout or even moan, we're going home, we're going home!" the boys chanted excitedly. "Boys, calm down," officer Roger ordered.
When the boys made it home in the town where they lived, the sun came out brightening the day and there was something that had made Ralph smile; something he hadn't been able to do all day. He was filled with emotions. On the other side of the path, starring at him was his family.
