Hamilton's Financial Plan
The South shouldn't have to pay for the North debt! National Bank! That's unconstitutional!
I am trying to fix America's debt. A national bank will help pay back debt!
We will remain neutral in this war!
Hamilton and Jefferson were arguing about the financial plan for getting america out of debt. The plan included paying off war debt, build a national bank, and raise government revenue. Jefferson thought it was unconstitutional because of his strict view on the Constitution. This is a huge deal because it set up the stage for all further presidents by making them able to make new laws.
When the Government taxed whiskey their was a small rebellion. When the Militia got there the revolt had died out. They learned that they needed to protect their citizens and they demonstrated that they had the power to punish the guilty.
When France broke out in war America had to deiced which side they wanted to be on. Jefferson said that we should aid the French while Hamilton wanted to remain neutral and help no one. They ended up going neutral which was a big deal beacuse it set up are foreign policy for years.
