Storyboard Text
The French Revolution was primarily caused by the common man's oppression. Those of the lower classes were starving and struggling.
The Convention made a Committee of Public Safety which enforced a Reign of Terror which killed those who opposed the revolution.
This Terror killed approximately 40,000 people who were labeled as "counterrevolutionaries".
The Committee held more campaigns against rich privilege and stopped their compensation.
Robespierre was a prominent radical in the Terror and alienated much Catholicism in France.
The Terror essentially ended with Robespierre's execution by guillotine, and the economy was stabilizing due to war victories, ending the Terror.
