  • The Sons of Liberty was founded in the summer of 1765 by a group of shopkeepers and artisans in Boston. The first action the Sons of Liberty initiated took place on August 14, 1765. The Sons burned an effigy of Andrew Oliver and burned part of Oliver's property . This group was lead by Samuel Adams.
  • A colonist knocked one of the soldiers down. As the soldier got up, he fired his musket, and then yelled "How dare you, fire". Three Americans, including Samuel Gray was killed instantly. Other men shot died later in the month. This event quickly became known as "the Boston Massacre". Even though its known as a massacre, only about five people died.
  • The British made the people of England and the colonist pay taxes. The colonists didn't like this so The Sons of Liberty met up with each other and planned how they will stop taxing people on tea. They dressed as Mohawks, an Indian tribe, and boarded the boats. They then threw the tea into the Boston Harbor.
