  • a tubular structure that caries blood around the body.
  • take blood away from the heart to the body organs and tissues under high pressure.
  • there will be blood loss, inside the body and not obvious or bright red blood will be seen on the outside of the body that usually seems to pulse.
  • type of bleeding: 
  • Artery blood is normal bright red colour. blood will spurt from the wound : blood with gush out in a sudden and foreful stream.
  • Functions: 
  • thick outer wall - small lumen - thick layer of muscles and elastic fibers.
