  • Now that i have figured everything out, I can finally start my marvelous study!
  • For my participants I decided that I would use 38 medical students
  • For my control group It will be was set up to match the genders and ages of the PPS
  • 21 female, 17 male with a mean age of 24 to avoid gender bias.
  • who had not spent time studying for exams and had not had exams in the last 6 months.
  • oh and controls were scanned at the same first 2 times as the medical students
  • 1. 3 months before the exam2. first or second day after the exam3. 3 months after the exam
  • For the procedure it will use 3 MRI scans on the med students
  • After conducting the study...
  • The medical students had a decrease in grey matter in the occipital parietal lobe
  • Most changes were observed after the exam remained
  • 3 months later and continues to grow after the exam in the hippocampus.
  • The medical student's amount of grey matter increased in the posterior parietal cortex (associated with visual short term memory).
  • Inferial parietal cortex and in posterior hippocampus (associated with navigational and semantic knowledge)
