  • The senators are meeting to think of a compromise to unite the union.
  • The union needs to be at peace!
  • Slavery has become a huge problem.
  • Abraham Lincoln was elected president in 1860 and was also a supporter of the Fugitive Slave Act.
  • I hereby declare that slavery will not be extending into the territories.
  • Many southerners feared that slavery would be abolished. Eventually, at a convention in South Carolina on December 20th, the delegates had a vote to leave the union.
  • I think we should leave the union...
  • ME!
  • After South Carolina seceded, so did Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Texas.
  • Who wants their state to leave the union?
  • ME!
  • There was a lot of celebrating in the south, not so much in the north.
  • YAAAAAH!!!!
  • When South Carolina seceded, along with a few other states, it tore the nation apart and caused a disagreement with the union. Lincoln wanted to make every citizen happy, but he couldn't. The answer was war.
