Storyboard Text

  • Parents were used to a more modest look for females and believed that dates should be chaperoned. The mothers, especially, did not approve of this lifestyle because they were blamed for the behaviours of their dauhgters.
  • How DARE you embarass the family like this! Behaving like a hussy! Do you have an ounce pride? Wearing dresses that show your knees and staying out late, GETTING DRUNK!!
  • Don't you question me about shame because I want to live life, get drunk reveal more skin and neck a few guys.
  • Why won't Mother just acept how I am. She thinks I'm not aware of my actions and choices BUT I AM. Drinking, Smoking andstying late at the Jazz Club makes me feel liberated and free.
  • Flappers were seen as bold and brazen by their parent's geneation. The makeup, flashy dresses and dances were overbearing for their parents. Flappers' smoking and drinking at speakeasies, performing dances such as the Charleston and Black Bottom were seen as unethical and immodest. However as the years passed, EVERYONE adapted to the reinvented culture.
