Storyboard Text

  • In the beginning, there was only darkness where two beings emerged from. There names were Kumulipo and Po'ele. They created all the creatures that live in total darkness including shellfish, plants and grubs. As they were born the darkness became lighter.
  • The first beings gave birth to a male and a female who created the fish and land creatures of the almost darkness. These creatures had offspring and with each new birth the darkness grew brighter.
  • The second couple gave birth to another male and female who created the creatures of the darkness-near-dawn. These were the insects, the caterpillar, the grasshopper and the large egg. The large egg hatched out thousands of birds. All the creatures and birds had offspring and each birth made the darkness more brighter.
  • The third beings gave birth to another couple who created the lobsters, sea turtles, and other shellfish that live in near-darkness.
  • Another couple was born and they produced the rat and the pig; creatures of both day and night. Soon it was almost dawn and the Earth was already full of life.
  • The first man and woman were born, both dark since they were born at dawn. They had many children and their skins became lighter and lighter each time.
