Storyboard Text

  • Started by Confucius. About respect towards one another, including the government.
  • Confucianism
  • Talent should be allowed in the government. Beliefs in the Analects.
  • Daoism
  • Created by Laozi. Daoism is about being one with nature. Balance throughout life. Mind your own business. Stay out of my life, government! In book Dao de Jing.
  • Started by Hanfeizi. Believe that humans are born evil. Harsh punishments to keep in check. About inducing fear for control.
  • Legalism
  • Confucianism is the best out of the three philosophies because I believe everyone should respect others and be respected. Also, instead of inheriting a slot in the gov't because your father or mother was there, you have to work up to it and have talent. I additionally like that kings have a duty to set an example for who they rule over.
  • Confucianism
  • The Daoism philosophy is okay by by my opinion because some ideas I agree with and some I don't. For example, the idea of giving up all worldly desires for the Dao is silly to me because otherwise you have nothing to attempt to do, nothing to try to get better at. However, I like the idea of balance in life because if you do too much of one thing, you never get to try other things.
  • Daoism
  • I very much dislike the Legalism philosophy because it is about using violence and tattlers to control people. Violence never solves anything, just makes you enemies. Also, no one is born bad. The way hey are raised and who they choose to be decides who they are.
  • Legalism
