After the cold war Israel military was affected big time. The Soviet withdrew the most important source of military equipment an training from the middle east. They took away finical support and political.
wait, didn't they get help from the United States. I heard that they sent $3 billion to Israel annually. $1.8 billion goes to military aids.
Yes they did have military support from the u.s. Which created alliances with Israel and the United States and the Soviet.Israel was able to maintain a steady military base with U.S making deals in 1973. Israel had Soviet and U.S as allies but Soviet turned there backs on Israel.
Wow, all of these alliances and disagreements had to have created some conflicts. Is that why they created the peace treaty between Israel and Egypt? I heard the treaty acted as cessation of the state of war. Even though they have the treaty their is still conflict today with Israel and Palestinians. The U.S still has a lot of involvment in Israel today.
While all this is true and the treaty saved lives you also must know that Israel declared themselves a nation with UN approval. Arab immediately attacked Israel because they were seen as a threat. 600,000 palestinians fled with presumed intent to to return armed and take back the land.
With all this happening it seems like Israel would be in a lot of debt and damage. I suppose sine the U.S is still helping out Israel they are in good shape and are doing well after the cold war impacted them hard.
