First Expansion 509 B.C.E - 264 B.C.E
We fought the Carthage three times in three major wars! We gained control of North Africa, much of Spain and the island of Sicily also Macedonia and Greece.
Second Expansion 264 - 146 B.C.E
Third Period 145 to 44 B.C.E
Rome conquered Asia Minor, Syria, and Egypt. Then Julius Caesar conquered much of Gaul (now known as France)
Fourth Period 44 B.C.E to 14 B.C.E
Our first emperor pushed the boarders of the empire all the way to natural boundaries, like rivers
